Streaming using Google Chromecast Streaming device.

No doubt, the rate of online streaming has increased considerably since the coronavirus pandemic outbreak. Users now have now focused more on streaming as a major kind of entertainment. From Netflix movies to YouTube music; it’s really been a great turn.

Nothing makes viewing better and more entertaining than having your videos casted on a big screen. Leveraging on users’ constant quest convenience, relaxation and comfort; Casting devices have stepped in to save the day. One of the most sought-after casting devices is the Google Chromecast.

Google Chromecast is a small media streaming device (from Google of course) which can be connected to your existing TV set using the HDMI port. With this device, you can use your iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Chromebook, Windows and Mac Laptops to cast movies and audios on a big screen.

Using this device doesn’t cost you anything else apart from your subscription to the apps you are streaming from. For Google customers; it’s like adding to your Google experience as it works with the Google Home product (I bet some people do not know what that does).

Using the Google Chromecast device is quite easy. You can get to it with the following steps.

  • Connect your Chromecast device
Connect the HDMI cable attached to your device to your TV’s HDMI port and the usb power cable to the adapter and plug it to power source. This device actually uses AC and it is not rechargeable, at least not yet.
    • Download the Google Home App
Visit the appropriate app store for your device to download, install and set up the Google Home app.
    • Set up the Chromecast
This is the most important and most techy step.
      1. Connect your mobile device or tablet to the same Wi-Fi network your Chromecast device is expected to use.
      2. Open the Google Home App downloaded
      3. At the top left of the Google Home App home screen; tap “Add” then “set up device” and then “set up new devices”. The app would direct you appropriately.
      4. And you are all set.
      • Cast Content
Go to your cast enabled app from which you would like to stream from and cast to the device (using the name you used for the device during the setup above).

You can then start using your device as the remote; increasing and reducing the volume and every other thing you would love to do. It is that simple to get a cinematic experience in the comfort of your home just streaming from your mobile device.
