Unique features of Windows 10

Microsoft has been giving users an ever-improving experience in terms of the Windows Operating System. When Windows 8 was released in October 2012, we all thought we have seen the peak of it, but the release of Windows 10 has made us understand that this is just the beginning of something great.

Even though it is close to impossible to maximize the full potential of all the Operating Systems, it is quite important that every user understands to a reasonable extent the difference or icings on this OS upgrades.

Below are the awesome features of Windows 10:

Start Menu:

Microsoft finally considers Users’ “Bring back our start menu” cry while working on the new Windows 10. The Start Menu, being the central hub for everything on Windows 10 has a kind of stock default look. Licking on it does not only give Users access to the power control portion and settings but it also displays the major apps at a glance. The good news is it can be customized.

Universal Apps and Continuum

The Universal App is an API created by Microsoft and was first introduced on Windows 10. This ensures the same experience while in use on any device running on the same Operating System including mobile devices. In short, you can have the same experience using email outlook on your mobile or tablet as a PC User.

Continuum is similar but different.

On a phone, it is the ability to run a desktop-like PC experience. You'll typically do this with the Microsoft Display Dock, which connects your phone to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

On a tablet or 2-in-1, Continuum refers to the ability to switch between a touch-friendly interface and one suitable for a mouse and keyboard.

Cortana

This is the virtual assistant created by Microsoft for Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile, Windows Phone 8.1, Invoke smart speaker, Microsoft Band, Xbox One, iOS, Android, Windows Mixed Reality. It uses voice command technology to save time and organize Users’ tasks and activities across all devices. To use the Cortana, User will have to sign in, set up cortana by just typing “cortana settings” in the search bar. It has a notebook, can connect contacts and handle reminders.

Snap Assist

This allows users to run as much as four apps simultaneously. This way, multitasking on a single screen is made easy without the hassle of manually resizing apps so they fit without wasting precious pixels.

Users can snap a document to the quarter of the screen and the other apps which could also be snapped would be displayed.

Search Improvement

The search box located right beside the start menu is now more efficient as it works with both typing and even the cortana. This means whether local or online search, the user can make use of the search box with both voice search and word search.

File Explorer has also been updated with Quick Access section replacing the old Favourites. Quick Access automatically displays recent files and most visited folders.

Task View and Virtual Desktop

This is a very useful and visual productivity enhancer which brings into play the virtual desktop experience which Mac users have enjoyed for years.

When you click the Task View icon, it displays add new desktop on the right bottom corner. On each of the desktops, users have the access to snap apps or run them in whatever size windows preferred. One could keep email and web browser on one Desktop that could be hidden away when working on an Excel spreadsheet.

Microsoft Edge

This is the latest and the most sort after browser in town. It is a web browser developed by Microsoft and included in Windows 10, Windows 10 mobile, Xbox One, replacing internet explorer as the default browser on all related devices.

Microsoft Passport

Microsoft Passport consists of 2 services – a single Sign-in service that allows members to use a single name and password to log in, and a Wallet service that members can use to make fast, convenient online purchases.

This is meant to replace the password with a strong two-factor authentication.

Xbox

This is a proof that Microsoft has decided to give gaming the required attention.

It provides a kind of Game streaming which is the ability to play Xbox One games remotely from your Xbox One console on any Windows 10 PC on your home network. This feature allows you to leave your living room and play your favorite Xbox One games anywhere with access to your home network.

The Microsoft Windows 10 comes in two variations, the Windows 10 Home, and Windows 10 Pro. These two also have significant differences which make us understand that Microsoft still has a lot to offer on the Windows Operating System.
